When clean architecture is a waste of time and what you can do about it.

Why buy-in from leadership and the team matters as much as the architecture itself, how to make an architecture survive without you being in the room, and what to do when the team hasn't bought in.

You can spend weeks building the perfect architecture - Domain layer, Use cases, Repositories, clean Dependency Injection… every layer is perfectly clean.

You present it. Nods. Thumbs up on Slack. "This looks solid."

Then two weeks later, someone skips the domain layer in a PR because "there's too much work," and the ticket was due Wednesday.

On a construction site, rules aren't followed because the architect drew nice plans. They're followed because every contractor is required to follow them, the inspector checks them, and the city won't issue a permit without them. Without that, the rules become a PDF nobody reads.

Clean Architecture works the same way. Without written, visible support from leadership, the architecture is dead on arrival.
